Text 1This text is about a book called "More guns, less crime". It has analyzed crime rates in 10 states that have passed the right-to-carry law from 1977-1992. The writer claims that murders fell an average of 8 %, rapes 5% and aggravated assault 7%. But many critics were startled by the fact that a man, who never had a gun or been a part of the N.R.A wrote this book about "Understanding Crime And Gun Control Laws". Other critics were skeptic about whether John Lott, the writer, had been changing the numbers for statistical purposes. For an example John Lott dropped from his study “any countries that has no reported murders or assaults for a given year”. Still after all these inconveniences John Lott stands by the thoroughness of his research.
Text 2According to Tiffany Hyatt it often takes a traumatic event to make most women even consider carrying a gun. Often are women taught that there always will be someone to protect them, but in Hyatt’s view that is far from reality. The 31-year-old single mom of four, Tiffany Hyatt, was raped and beaten by men who actually was polices officers and that make here realize that, being a victim of an assault, the only way to get a little more saver was, to carry a gun and be prepared at all time. She is now educated, trained and ready to defend myself and her family with deadly force, encourages other women to carry a gun and thinks that girls should have “self-defense-class” before sex education. The attitude in this text is positive. The text is from a rape-victims point of view, and Tiffany Hyatt has a very positive view on guns after her rape. She thinks it’s all right to have a gun I the house to self-defense. She means that “arming yourself is your constitutional right, firearm education and training is your choice, but defending your life and the life of your children is duty.” As a victim, a second position for guns, than this is completely wrong. She thinks every woman should buy a gun and be prepared for anything that may happen at what time whatsoever. She is not against the gun-law because she doesn’t feel save without one.
