Malcolm X: biografi og kamp for borgerrettigheder

Malcolm X was born on may 27 1925 in Omaha in Nebraska, he was born Malcolm Little. He had 10 siblings, 7 biological and 3 half siblings. He got the name Malcolm X, because he would not keep his slave name. His muslim name was El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. When Malcolm X was 13 years old he was a criminal living in boston and new york, until he got arrested in 1946 because of theft. He got 10 years in jail. In prison he came in contact with the Black Muslims-movement (Nation of Islam) and became one of them. When he got released in 1952. Malcolm X became the new spokesman for the group. After malcolm X made a great effort for the group, The Nation of Islam grew a lot. In 1952 there was 400 members and in 1960 there was 40.000 members. ?Malcolm X got married to Betty Sanders in 1958, a fellow member of the Nation of Islam and they had four children together.?Black Muslims was fighting for freedom, equality, and justice. If it was not possible that they could have equal rights in their own country, they would make their own state and own schools, where they could learn about their own history, which have disappeared behind slavery. They were very much against alcohol, nicotine, crime and adultery.?In contrast to Martin Luther King, who also fought for the rights of blacks. The two had very different ways of doing it. Martin Luther King was very much against violent solutions, while Malcolm X was more supportive of the militant way. ?Malcolm X also belived that the white race was an enemy for the afro american people until he came to Mecca. In Mecca he saw muslims from all countries and races and became more peaceful and open minded. That made him change his mind about the evils of all white people. Malcolm X gave black people more confidence and belives in them selfs. He got them to stand up against racism.?Malcolm X was shot and killed in Harlem, New York February 21 in 1965 by members of the Nation of Islam: Talmadge Hayer, Norman (3X) Butler and Thomas (15X) Johnson. He was killed by his own organization, because he was in disagreement with his leader Elijah Mohammad.
