On the morning of April 20, 1999, Dylan Klebold, 17 years old, and Eric Harris, 18, walked into Columbine High School, outside Denver, and shot to death 13 students wounding more than 20 others, before turning their guns on themselves and committing suicide. Their actions were the result of a yearlong plot that included plans to blow up the school and kill as many as 500 people.

At 11:10 a.m. Harris and Klebold had arrived in their cars at Columbine High School, on the morning of the massacre, dressed in black coats and brought explosive firearms. The two walked into the school cafeteria, where they placed two bags each containing a 20 pound bomb, set to explode at the cafeteria. The-

two young high school boys went back outside to their cars, to wait for the bombs to go off. When the bombs failed to detonate, Klebold and Harris began their shooting spree. At 11:17 a.m. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, began shooting fellow students outside Columbine High School. After killing 13 students, Harris and Klebold committed Suicide. A lot of students escaped from Dylan and Eric, and few injured died in the hospital.

Aftermath

Mark Manes, the man who sold a gun to Harris and bought him 100 rounds of ammunition the day before the murders, was sentenced to six years in prison. Another man, Phillip Duran, who introduced Harris and Klebold to Mark Manes,
