New York Never Again

Joey was 20 years old and had just moved to New York to study. He was living in a ghetto, but it was the only apartment he could afford, he had lived there for 2 month by himself. The apartment was small, it was only room for him and no other. Suzie his girlfriend had visited him in New York for a week, she wasn´t happy that he lived there. The neighborhood was dangerous, and full of violins. But he didn’t have the money to move.In neighborhood they was selling drugs, one day they was asking him if he wanted some, but he rejected, they kept asking him he refused, they offered him deal, if he would sell it for them they wouldn’t do him any harm and they would protect him from other people, again he refused.They didn’t seem mad, but they seemed cool.

A couple of days after he met the guys, he went to school as usual, he met one of the boys he bummed into him but apologized. He was having classes as usual. During class 2 police officers came an asked if they could check his bag, they have had a phone call by an anonyms person, they Joey had drugs in his bag. Joey was confused but he led them check, he didn’t think he had anything to hide.The police found 2 pounds of hash in his bag. He was asked to follow them to the police station, where they were going to ask him some question. Joey was just as confused as the teachers and the students were. Joey asked the police why he was arrested, but they didn’t want to answer the question. On the police station he was in jail, with some of the guys from the neighborhood.Now he knew what this was about. The boy whom bummed into him this morning had putted the drugs in his bag, without getting noticed. He hoped that the guys wouldn’t recognize him, but they did. Joey knew this was going to give troubles, Joey called the police, he knew he had the rights to a phone call. Joey called his mother to tell her what was going on. At first he asked her if she was sitting down so she wouldn’t get a heart attack, at first she was speechless and chocked but then she was ready to listening. He told her about the guys, about the school, the cops and about the jail and that the drugs wasn’t his. He asked her to come and pay for a lawyer; she was leaving with the first airplane.Joey had to wait 2 more days till the lawyer and his mother came, besides he had to tell the lawyer every single detail from he woke up till he was in prison. It took 1 day for the lawyer to prepare himself and Joey to the trial. The day at the trial Joey had been in jail for a week. The lawyer explained the circumstances, and the setup, with enough proofs, joey was a free man, and he was never going to New York Again
