The World Trade Center in New York City, United States, was a complex of seven

buildings in Lower Manhattan, mostly designed by the American architect Minoru

Yamasaki and the engineer Leslie Robertson.

The World Trade Center does sometimes informally as the WCT or the Twin Towers.

The Center is constructed in 1966-1972.

The Center has 110 floors, and the area is 8.6 million square feet. To come up to the 110

floor, you most take an elevator. There are 198 of them. The World Trade Center is 1,727

feet, so it’s understandably that there have to be so many elevators in the World Trade

Center.

On September 11, 2001 at 8:48 attacks and collapse the World Trade Center. Al Qaeda

crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into the northern facade of the North Tower. Only

seventeen minutes later, at 9:03 a.m., a second team of hijackers crashed United Airlines

Flight 175 into the South Tower, which collapsed a half hour later. At 10:28 a.m. the

North Tower collapsed.

Both police officers, fire fighters, other workers and private people help cleaning up the
