Being a foreigner isn’t easy. Just because you are a foreigner, people will look at you differently. In 2013 there were 600.000 people of foreign origin. That doesn’t sound as many but compared to the Danish population, they pose about 10 percent of it. Many foreigners are treated very badly. Many of the foreigners didn’t choose voluntary to come to Denmark. They had to.
Foreigners are known for making much trouble and having brad grades at school. Foreigners, who aren’t like that, will still be treated like one of them.
I personally have experience that people underestimated me just because I am a foreigner. There was one time when I had to work together with to girls that I didn’t know. We found a place to sit down and started to discuss and they were both surprised over my intelligence. They told me that they aren’t used to see a clever foreigner. That experience gave me an idea about what people actually think about us. I’m not the only one to have experienced that.
The big questions is why do people treat foreigners bad even though, they know that they didn’t voluntary chose to come to Denmark and not all of them are troublemakers? I think it’s because they are afraid if them. In the news we oft hear bad things about foreigners for example a about a group of foreigners who has stabbed another person. Such news is horrible and they make people afraid.
