It was a Sunday afternoon; everything was as it used to be. Mom was in the kitchen, dad was
Watching TV and drinking beer. And Mike? We never knew where he was, driving a stolen car, doing drugs or skipping school thinking that it makes him cool. But it doesn’t, it never does, it just makes him look like a loser
My Brother Brian and I passed the time by playing games, when we suddenly heard the door being slammed and yelling downstairs. I went down the stairs but didn’t go all the way; I knew that it was Mike and dad arguing. It was the usual argument, rehab, bad friends, school, the smell of alcohol, drugs and cigarettes on him, that kind of stuff. But this time it felt different inside me, like I knew I had to do something and I knew what to do about it, should I do it? I guess I should, but it’s never fun to be the responsible one, not when you’re only 14 years old.
I went to Martin’s house. He was a friend of Mike’s before he got the new bad friends. In a way I always liked Martin, he was the only one of Mike’s friends who treated me nicely, so I knew he would help me. I knocked on the door in a long time, and suddenly the door was answering, it was Martin’s mother. I told her I was a friend of Martin’s and she let me in.I told Martin that he had to help med with Mike. I did not know were Mike and his friends hung out, but I knew Martin knew. He told me that they hang out at the harbor. My plan was to confront him in the moment, so he can see how sad it makes me.
