A needle in a haystack Many Danes migrate to the U.S.A in the 1900th. Most of them kept in contact with their families back home by letters, but their children and grandchildren had in most cases no interest in the old country, so the mailing stopped when the older generation died. When the Americans in the 70s and 80s started looking for their ancestral roots, it was often in vain, unless they were incredibly lucky. A Danish lady was in 1985 on vacation in U.S.A.
