Ned is the type of guy who gets the cup with a crack in the bottom, the piece of cake with hair in or diseases, that are almost impossible to get. Every time he wants something really bad he gets the opposite - in a negative sense. If he earns a little extra cash, a new bill comes through the door and the money goes right out the window again. Just in this past year, both his dogs died. While he was still in mourning he was run down by a car, luckily no one got hurt.
One day, when his girlfriend had just left him. He was so frustrated and sad, he knocked over a trashcan on his way home walking through a park. “What’s the hurdle my young boy?” Asked an old man sitting nearby on a bench in the park. “It’s just” Ned answered “is it possible that some people are just born unlucky?”, While he sat down next to the man. “I can neither confirm or deny that claim, but i'm guessing that fortune hasn’t quit smiled upon you lately?” Ned nodded and told him about the hair in the cake, the dog dying and his girlfriend leaving him, last he asked the man if he had any advice to Ned, so he maybe could be more fortunate in the future. The man sat, thinking for a while, before he said “Hearing your story i have to say, you seem unfortunate, but it also seems like you rather expect things to go wrong, you are very focused on the things going bad in your life”.
