Blackberries Diary: En novelle om parforhold og forventninger

[NAVN A] 2.E Engelsk 26.09.2014 BlackberriesDiary from the wife:Dear DiaryThe minute the sun came up he went out to look for his beloved blackberries, and before he went he promised me that he would be back before the sun went down. I whispered quietly to myself that it was a lie, because he usually said that, but never came back on time. Surprisingly this time he actually came back before noon. After he went, I laid down on a blanket, and decided to read my book. I had never really finished reading it, because I couldn’t really find time for it, as my daily life was very hectic. Yesterday my dear husband told me that he spoke with my boss, and made him give me some days off. He said that he would have told me before, but it was a surprise. Going to the woods is a surprise? I don’t think so. He knew that I didn’t like it, but I did it for him. He just loved everything about the woods. Chopping woods, looking for ripe blackberries and the list could go on and on. While he was gone, I found out that there wasn’t any milk left. I couldn’t take it anymore, and got really mad. So when he came back, and went behind the tent to wash the blackberries, I told him that we were out of milk. I also gave him a hint about me wanting to go to New York, because Albert and Mae was going. There was this theater tour, that I really wanted to watch. But as usual, he didn’t listen. He just replied that I told him that before, and he continued washing the blackberries, and talking about them instead. I was about to explode of anger inside. I felt he only thought about him self, and what he wanted and not what I wanted. I know I have been annoying when I have filled him up with the New York theater tour. But he knew how much I wanted to visit New York, and watch the theater, so it really annoyed me that he was acting like that. He began talking about cattails and something about frying the cattails in butter. I didn’t listen, and told him about the one price you have to pay for the tour that covers everything, but he ignored me and suddenly began talking about that there is no danger in the woods. He also said that we could take a swim if it got too hot, and told me that I look good in a bathing suit. Though it was sweet of him to give me a compliment, I wasn’t really in the mood for it. It seemed like he always changed the subject, so I rejected his compliment. He also told me that we had powdered milk, but I can not stand powered milk. It has this really funny taste. I didn’t know what to think anymore. I thought to myself that this trip was a bad idea. We couldn’t agree on nothing at all, and he kept ignoring what I was saying, and always changed the subject, which made me crazy as hell. But I just didn’t bother starting up this big discussion, so I just kept myself calm. He went over to the pile of fire logs, and he started splitting them up. He was quite good at it.
