At Welton Academy, there are four pillars that the students shall follow; they are Tradition, Excellence, Discipline, and Honor! The pillars shall be followed else the students would be penalized or expulsed from the school. Welton Academy gets a new English teacher John Keating. Mr. Keating isn’t like the other teachers; he introduces the students to the saying of Carpe Diem that meant "Seize the day! Make your life extraordinary! And suck the marrow out of life!” The boys locate Mr. Keating’s old yearbook, they find out that, Mr. Keating once was member of an old organization called Dead poets society. The boys decide to bring the organization back to life again. The secret club “Dead Poets society” is about meeting at late night, and reading aloud poems and discussing them. The next following days, we follow the boys’ lives. Neil Perry, is the boy with a very strict father. Neil doesn’t want anything to do, with the plans his father has set forth for him, instead he want to follow Mr. Keating’s Carpe diem. Knox Overstreet has an affair with his dream girl Chris Noel, who goes on a high school in town. He brings Chris to the meetings in the society, however that it’s against the schools policy, and therefore something that could get him expelled from the school, but the headmasters doesn’t find out. Charlie Dalton is the guy that risks to get expelled because he brings tobacco, alcohol and girls to the meetings in the creepy pine forest. As a result of that, he changes his name to Nuwanda. Later Charlie interrupts the headmaster’s speech with a phone call, and then he got kicked out of the school. Neil decides to go to audition for the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream". After the audition Neil receive the role as the main character in the show. But his father didn’t want him to participate in the show but Neil resisted his father’s order and played in the show anyway. He told his father that he had played wonderful in the show, but Neil’s father had a very negative reaction to it, and because of that he wants Neil transferred to a military school instead. But Neil Perry commits suicide because of that.
