Graffiti is writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface, often in a public place. But are graffiti art or vandalism? I think graffiti is both art and vandalism. It is vandalism when the “artists” just make flourishes sign or painting, without importance. For example when young people, often teenager. Some teenager thinks is cool when they paint on the walls. In think it is vandalism, if they just paint without any reason. Some gangs also use graffiti to mark their territory. They do this by painting the “gang sign” on the wall, so other “gangs” can see who is governing the territory. Is the same principle when dog make out their territory. They pee everywhere so the other dogs can see who is the governing.
When we think of graffiti, we think of gangs tagging walls, and that is giving graffiti a bad name. But graffiti can also be art. When graffiti is art, must it first of all be a good artist. If we look at graffiti as an art, but we should also remember that there is different kind of styles, for example freestyle, classic and tags.
I think graffiti is okay when they do it on ruined places, like the Berlin Wall or old grey buildings. I but doesn’t think graffiti is okay when they make it on public train, new building or stuff like that. I would say graffiti is art if they just paint the right places and make some colorful and beautiful.
