“Youth and Driving Don’t Always Mix Safely,” is an article written on 23rd of May in 2009 by a Healthday reporter called Dennis Thompson.

The article claims and explains through studies how teenage drivers are more likely than adults to crash their cars because of their youth and inexperience. It also explains through statistics the dangers of combining driving and alcohol. And it all comes down to one conclusion. Youth and Driving do not mix safely.

Studies have shown that young drivers crash more than older drivers do. While people between 15 and 24 years old represent 14 percent of the United States population, they account for 30 percent of total costs of motor vehicle injuries among males, while they account for 28 percent in females. What’s more shocking is that studies have shown that a high percent of young people do not realize or acknowledge that getting their license is only the first step to gaining their experience. The article also raises questions about the parents’ involvement regarding this issue and whether they should talk to their children about various safety issues regarding having a driver’s license.

”Parents are the ones in charge of making sure kids follow restrictions and graduated driving laws. The challenge is for parents to make clear that these restrictions aren't about control, they're about safety, and they come from a place of love.”
