In the news feature from the Australian morning show “Sunrise”, we hear experts view on the influence violent video games have on the youth, playing them on a daily basis. The two experts are discussing whether playing a violent video game can trigger something in ones brain to cause harm to others themselves. Looking back on earlier terrorist actions, (An example is made on the massacre in Norway a few years back), studies have shown that an amount of the people committing terrorism have been playing violent video games through many years. Scientists have been researching in the psychological influence the video games have for more than 30 years now, and it has still not been proved that there is a longer term effect from the video games.
Jordie Guy, who is an online campaigner, states that after many years of research: “There is nothing that concludes that there is an effect on a person, off course it’s not a good idea to play 30 hours a day though”. Dr. AZ, who is asked why there is so many different facts on this topic by the host, answers: “As said, there is no distinct answer to the question, especially since there is so many personal views on the topic, the media is not agreeing on the topic, and there is controversial looks upon it by the public”.
