I went to Johnny’s house today. We brought some wood and had lunch there. Johnny invited me to eat lunch at his house without asking his mother first. But she welcomed me in anyway. When we arrived there Ms. Wilson yelled at Johnny because I was carrying all of the wood. I didn’t mind though. She kept asking me if I wanted to have more to eat, and she said she wanted me to fill up, as if I don’t get a lot of food. When she asked me what my father does, she was surprised to hear that he was the Foreman at the factory, even that he had a job. Then she offered me some gingerbread and told me to eat as many as I wanted. She also wanted me to have one of Johnny’s old suits. I said no thank you, because I have all I need really. Then she took the gingerbreads away and said that a lot of other kids would be more than happy to get Johnny’s old suit, and that she was disappointed. All the time I was there both Johnny and Ms. Wilson had conversations where it didn’t matter if I was there or not.
