I would like to talk about South Africa and more specific Apartheid. I have chosen this topic because I found it very interesting and exciting because i have a lot of interest in the history apartheid has made.

First, I would like to talk about what apartheid is. I 1948 the whites decided to create a system called apartheid, which would make it easier to keep all the power without sharing anything. It was a way to separate all the South Africans according to the color of their skin. This system was basically created because the white wanted power. Every single thing they were doing was beneath the whites. You couldn’t sit on the same beaches, go to the same cinemas, drive the same trains and worst of all even children was separated at school. And these examples are just some of many. Apart from that people with different skin color could not have sexual relationships. It wasn’t even legal to kiss. All this just because of your color. But this was not enough for the whites. This may be one of the biggest reasons why colored were kept out of the society. There were a lot of people the fight back to get freedom. One of these men was Nelson Mandela. He was a lawyer who joins the party ANC and later became leader in 1942. They did a lot of peaceful demonstration, but that wasn’t enough. In 1961 Nelson Mandela got arrested for a violent demonstration, which caused him a bit of jail-time; 27 years. After suffering in Jail, making a lot of work that may be able to bring freedom for black, he got out. And after that he soon became president of South Africa.
