I will write an essay (or at least try) about the American dream for witch I have read the article called ‘’American dream is still alive, but unrecognized’’ and from that own knowledge, I will discuss topics as: What is the American Dream? Is it possible to achieve it? Is there a Danish dream? And could/ is there a difference between the two? To me the American dream is a completely new topic of witch I’ve never written about before and therefore should be interesting.
The Essay (body):
The American dream, to me is a foreign concept; it is about being able to achieve your goals, and being able to get the job, and life, that you dream of. Say for example that you are a poor man moving into America from Mexico (this is strictly metaphoric in meaning) and you have no money, no home and all in all doing bad in life. The American dream would allow this man to become anything he could ever want; he could become an office worker, maybe a car salesman or even a millionaire? The American dream is in short terms ‘’everyone can become anything’’. The American dream is also about equality and having the same opportunities. Personally I would like to believe in the American dream in order to maybe achieve it myself one day, but how could it possibly be true? I mean, someone without money could become a millionaire? I would imagine that the only ones that could do that is either born into wealth or they have some sort of higher education, that allows them to have certain contacts in order to become know. Today I think that the standard of the American dream has been lowered, in the article that I’ve read it puts down a standard line for the American dream about whether or not you have acquired a house, an education and gotten a family, roughly. I don’t think the American dream Is achievable anymore, now like in the old times, today the concept of the American has been lost in time and only remains know to refugees and people who travels to America in order to earn quick money. But to the Americans I the that the dream has died out, mainly because they’ve been Americans for so long that they don’t think about it anymore. That would be like for me, living here in Denmark. There probably Is a Danish dream about being able to come to Denmark and earn money without lifting a finger or something like it, but I don’t recognize this because I’ve gotten used to it from living and being born in Denmark. I could imagine that to foreigners and refugees, Denmark would seem like a golden country cause of all the social aids and all the government support in form of cash support, students allowance, healthcare system, free education and so on. It is not like that there is a lot of other countries in this world, that offers all that to its population, let alone refugees. That, I think, could resemble the Danish dream. Therefore according to my idea of the Danish dream, there is a big difference between the American dream and the Danish dream, on one had you have the American dream that requires you to help yourself in order to gain somewhat success in life. On the other hand you have the Danish dream, everything is more or less delivered to you, from the minute you enter the country you are able to get cash from the government.
