A subject that has been thrown around in the media for a while is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is where one person is harassing a specific person over long periods of time, where they write all kinds of degrading and offensive things. Everything the cyberbully sends doesn’t have to be true, it just have to be hurtful against the other person.
Personally I think of myself as a person who has a certain experience when it comes to the internet and what you can do when you’re in the different kind of chat rooms. One thing that is similar on every chat room on the internet is that you always have the power to either report a person to an administrator or block them so they can’t send you anymore messages.
This is something we often choose not to use because we either think that it’s a little extreme to block or report a person or that we’re caught in the moment that we forget all about it when it happens. This is why I personally think that cyberbullying isn’t a real issue. The only reason that it happens is because the person being “bullied” is afraid or on purpose doesn’t take action and do something about it.
