Every girl in the world wants to become ”A Platinum girl”, i.e. to be beauty, expensive, fabulous, loved and lovely. However not every girl or women can achieve such a beauty, but there are many girls, who spends all their time to improve their appearance. Even thought it can be risky sometimes, and there is a big price for that. Thus if they will improve their beauty to high level, so will some of them find their exclusive “Place in the Sun” in “Platinum SandsTM”. This is also the case in the short story “A Place in the Sun” by Joanne Harris where the young girl explains her life, and what is her purpose in future.

The story is set in some kind of woman community, in which people are separated into different groups and statuses. But while the reader reads the story, he can imagine that people lives in some kind of the big city, which is placed close to the beach. The city and the beach is divided into parts, from the worst, ”All-Public” place, and up to exclusive, “Platinum” apartments and beach. Time when the story takes place is unknown, but proceeding from the facts in story, it could be also today, as example surgery in story isn’t better or more improved, then today in real life.
