There are a lot of different approaches to parenting. You can raise a child very strict or more loose. But often it’s a matter of culture. The Chinese way of parenting is based on hard work, and a strive for success. Only the best is good enough and you have to be the best at everything.
In the western culture parenting is more focused about understanding the individual child’s feelings, and let them go their own ways. The values in focus are equality of opportunity and individual freedom.
Though these are two very different approaches to parenting, they both have the same goal. To do what is best for the child. There’s a bunch of different opinions on this topic, and there is probably not one correct answer. It’s a matter of personal opinion and culture.
