More than a walkI checked the sky for for signs of rain and set off early to make the most of the day. I had packed my bag with a few necessities – a bite to eat, a bottle of water and heaps of curiosity about what the day would bring.Already at 7:00 p.m. the streets were full of people. It was my first time in New York and even though I had only been there for 2 days, I was already starting to feel stressed. My wife was at a reception and she wouldn’t be home before late night, so today I was on my own and I was going to experience the city. I walked down the streets and I admired all of the huge buildings around me. They were all so diffrent, but yet so special in their very own way. When I was younger my biggest dream was to become an architect and be one of the persons who designed those creations, but I never went through with it. Today I’m a banker, so I went in a slightly diffrent direction. When I reached the New York Libary I stopped for a second just to look at it. I really enjoyed the architecture of it and I wasn’t the only one. Everyone with a camera who passed by, stopped and took a picture of a family member in front of it. It’s funny how popular a building can become. Just when I was about to move on an old man asked me: ”You like it?”I was a bit surprised of his way of starting a conversation, but I said: ”Yes, I do. Very much actually!”He smiled and told me that he was one of the persons who designed it back in the days. It was an amazing coincidence. I asked him a couple of questions about the making of a building and so on, after which he asked me to a café. I obviously said yes, because he was one of the most exciting persons I had ever met. After a couple of hours we were done talking and we went separate ways. I had never thought that I would end up having such a nice day. It was like talking to your biggest idol, even though I had never heard of him before. He also taught me that it was very hard to get into the architect industy, so the fact that I became a banker was probably all good. So all in all it was very good day and I experienced a whole lot.
