Peak Marks

It was a normal day of my vacation, my new girlfriend Laura and i was taking a quick walk downtown. We were taking a little holiday because i needed to relax. There was so much going on in my life, especially that my dad was dying. It was cancer. But we were really enjoying London, it’s such a beautiful city, and the people living there are just so generous and pleasant! I especially thought the cafés and markets were really great. Earlier that day we also saw London Eye, the view was so gorgeous. We were about to get dinner, we just felt like some fast food. Suddenly i felt my phone buzzing. Which i actually found a bit weird, since all my family and friends knew i was in England on a vacation. I assumed right away that it was an important call, and it surely was! I quickly took my phone out of my pocket, and looked at the screen. It was my mom calling from my hometown, Glasgow, Scotland. “Hi Mark, i have fantastic news, guess what?”, honestly i had no idea what i was, but i heard the delight in her voice, and i was extremely excited, to hear what she was talking about. She said “The doctors found a way to cure your dad's cancer!” . At first I was completely speechless, i was so grateful. Laura looked at me, she wasn’t quite sure what had happened, but she could definitely tell that i was happy. After what felt like a while, my mom asked “Mark? Are you there?”, I just couldn’t believe it. I asked “Is it really true?”, she going to be healthy again?”, my mom answered in joy “Yes darling.”, he had been sick for over a year, at one point i had given up on him and now he’s recovering, unbelievable. Laura was desperate to get an explanation, she could sense how happy i was. I told her the good news, she was so happy on my behalf. I was so happy. I couldn’t help it. I gave her the tightest hug. We both agreed that we should celebrate it, so we went out for dinner. At a steakhouse, we had the greatest steaks each, so delicious. Afterwards we took a long walk through London, it’s so beautiful in the evening. I think this had been the greatest day of my life. A few days after, we went home to see my dad, he was already getting better, and happier than ever before.
