The main character Bob Harris arrives in Tokyo to film a commercial for a whisky, he is an American movie star and he will receive 2 million dollars for filming the commercial. He meets this young lady Charlotte at his hotel one night. They began to hang out and they became friends. They explore Tokyo together and they experience the differences between Japanese and American culture. Charlotte is married by a successful man called John, he is a celebrity photographer, and he leaves Charlotte on the hotel room all by herself. Charlotte is unsure of John, she think he interest in the celebrity models more instead of Charlotte. The day bob is departing back to America he is telling Charlotte goodbye at the lobby. While he is driving in the taxi on his way to the airport does he see Charlotte walking in the street he stops the taxi and rush out of the taxi and goes to Charlotte. He hugs her and then he slowly whispers something in Charlotte’s ear. He kisses her and then he says goodbye for the last time and then he departs.
Well the title “Lost in translation” speak for itself. They are human beings traveling in another country. They talk different in Japan, they look different and they eat different. But what makes them so different from an ordinary American? My opinion are first of all the fact that Japan and USA is located on each side of the globe and therefore there is a different climate which means that they do not have the same trees and animals as they have in the US. For an example people from Japan eats a lot of seafood and rice, and in the US they are known for eating unhealthy. They have some traditions in America that could be for an example Christmas. They don’t have Christmas time in Japan.
