Analyse af Apu, immigration og multikulturalisme i The Simpsons

Give a Summary of the episode Summary: One day a guy find a bear on the street, when he is on his way home. Since then people are forced to raise taxes so they can pay for a new bear patrol. Homer finds out, that Apu is an illegal immigrant, and The Simpson decide to help him get his citizenship.

Characterize Apu as an Indian: At the start he is very insecure about him and is religion and where we come from. He is an Illegal Immigrant from India, and he is very high educated from India. He want’s to make his parents proud, and they want him to don’t forget who he really are.

Characterize Apu as an American: He isn’t a “real” American, but he live and America and work there. At one point in the episode he wanted to be a “real” American, because he felt insecure and ashamed of being Indian, but it was because he didn’t want to be known as an illegal immigrant

Describe the multicultural aspects of life in Springfield: Every one is immigrants and come form different places and country´s. Lisa also said, that all American people are immigrants.

Would you call Springfield a melting pot or a salad bowl?: I think is a salad bowl, because everyone is coming from different countries and religions.
