People don’t really think about how they’re influenced by the surrounding world that much (I mean, it’s not really an everyday topic), but at the same time, I think that everyone is aware of it to a certain degree. Some people are more easily influenced than others, namely the self-conscious and self-aware ones (which I am afraid to say, includes me), but everybody is in some way influenced.

I have always been heavily influenced by my surroundings, but most heavily from my friends. One example is my sense of style, and the clothes that I wear. My clothes seem to change whenever I switch peer group, or meet new people. I just wouldn’t have the sense of fashion that I have today, if I didn’t have the friends I have.

Another recent decision that I was influenced into making, was when I decided to start a fitness membership. A lot of my friends recently joined too, and they urged me to try it out. I did end up joining, and I’m glad I did, because I do actually use it with them.

I think that another thing that is largely influenced by my friends and peers, is the pressure to get good grades, and be the perfect student/person. You want to be as good as your peers, if not better, to get their approval. It’s like a constant weight that only goes away if you get the best of everything, which rarely happens.
