Nelson Mandela og kampen mod apartheid

I have the topic freedom fighters, and i chose to write about nelson mandela. Because i think he is a very interesting and important freedom fighter.

THE APARTHEID

The apartheid prime minister was elected in 1948 and the separation of races became even bigger than what it had been. There had been a separation between races for a long time before Apartheid, where whites had more power, so discrimination was existent, but when the new prime minister came, it became law. In 1950 the government made 2 laws that split the country apart, the first one divided everyone up by the color of their skin. The second one made each group live in special areas. All power was given to the whites so they could easily get a black persons home if they wanted to live in it. The black people were forced into poorer areas as some of the lands was only for the white people, and even buses and beaches was whites only. Apartheid meant keeping the races apart, so if they found a black person on a white beach they would get arrested or even murdered. The black people were not even allowed to go out after 11 pm, if they did, they would get arrested. The black people had no rights.
