My name is … and my main topic is people who changed the world. And the person I choose to talk
about today is Nelson Mandela. During the next 5 minutes i´ll get into Mandela's childhood, The ANC
and apartheid and his time in prison. I chose this topic because he was a person who had a big
impact on the apartheid, and he is one of the few people who actually did something about blm,
which is called black lives matter.
Mandelas childhood
Nelson Mandela's full name is actually Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. He was a South African man, who
was born on July 18th, 1918. He has always been pretty successful throughout his whole life. And
already at the age of seven, he was the first person in his family, who got to go to school. He went to
the primary school in Qunu where his methodist teacher, Miss Mdingane, gave him the name Nelson.
The reason for that was because she named all the schoolchildren “Christian” names. So that's where
he got his name. Later on in life his father unfortunately died of tuberculosis when he was about 12
years old. Even though that happened, he kept working hard and started at the Wesleyan mission
