1 apartheid

Apartheid was a system, which South Africa used from1948 to 1994. The system raised the white supremacy in south Africa. A lot of people outside of south Africa were against the system, so people stopped importing products from South Africa in hope that the south African government would stop the apartheid system. The boycott began in 1959 with only a small handful of people but the movement slowly grew. The word apartheid is Dutch and means living apart, in which the people of south Africa did at the time.

With the apartheid system came some rules. For an example, a white person was not allowed to get married or have sexual intercourse with a colored person. The colored people also had to carry a passport where ever they went. If they did not have a passport on them, they would get arrested.
