Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born 1918 in a village called Xhosa

His father was Chief of the village so he was some kind of a prince. Started in school as 7 years old. He was a intelligent student and later he was studying on a university to become a lawyer

His middle name “Rolohlahla” means troublemaker, which in some way show his inner rebel. the reason why he decided to run away to Johannesburg was because his family had found a wife to marry, so he decided to leave to live a life of his own. in Johannesburg he joined the ANC who where fighting the Apartheid. after a short period of time he became their leader. he was brilliant and kind as their leader, he organised some massive demonstrations, but the white people just send the police who started shooting the innocent and peaceful demonstrators down in cold blood. in 1961 Mandela decided to start fighting the system with violence. so he started building an army of his own, now the government was starting to worry, so they send to police to arrest him. to avoid being caught he Descised himself as a different kind of workers. 1962 he was caught and send to prison on Robben Island. he was kept in prison for 28 years. ANC still called him their leader in the battle against apartheid and wanted him out of prison. in 1991 the pressure and lag of support from every other country in the world became too much, the government gave up and ended the apartheid system. In 1994 Mandela was elected as the first black president, he was president until 1999. in 2010 he held a speech at the pre opening ceremony of the football World Cup in South Africa.
