Friendship is one of the most powerful things in the whole world and with love come fights. There are no people, which are the same. Friends accept you for what you do and loves you for who you are. When teenagers are, young it is difficult to be around your parents; especially if you can feel that you are parents have a hard time with each other. You can feel the love and the pain between friends and parents in the short story “how lucky you are”.

A third person narrator who is all-knowing tells the short story “how lucky you are”. You can see that on page 1 lines 1 and 2. “If it wasn’t for the photo on his mobile, Max would have no proof that he’d met Ishraqi in real life”. The story “How lucky you are” starts in medias res which means its starts in the middle of the story.

The main theme is immigration and love. Ishraqi is from Iran but moved to UK alone because her parents were arrested at an anti-government demonstration. She believes that she doesn’t have a future in Iran, so a friend named Alexsa help her to find a Iran family in UK she could stay with. She just need to take her GCSE – witch are a General Certificate of Secondary Education. Therefore, she need to get her residence permit. Max meets Ishraqi and they starts talking, she tells him about her parent and that she doesn’t know if they are still alive, she trusting a stranger after a short time. They are alone together and after some while, Max kisses her. He falls in love with her quickly and he would do anything for her.
