Max is our main character. He is a student at a special school for creative people bus he is really tired of school. Max is sixteen. We can read that at line 42, “Max was sixteen.” We can read from line 30-31, “You’re mad, y’know? You’re lucky to have a place at the Brit - and you’re just wasting it.” We get the impression that it’s not the first time Max bunks off school throughout his conversation with his friend Dan. Max is very creative, but he is not very confident about it. He has always been told, that he has a “twisted imagination” His dad left him, and he now lives with his mother. Max often fights with her, and he is unaware of the people around him.
He also smokes homemade cigarettes which he often rolls in front of the UK agency building. We see that at line 38, “there was the usual bunch of people milling round outside the vast concrete to have a fag.” It’s like Max now most of the people around the area.
Ishraqi is originally from Iran. She has long black hair and dark eyes. She doesn’t know where they are. She tells Max that her parents were against the Iranian government, so they are maybe in jail because in Irani they don’t tolerant antigovernment protest’s or maybe even killed.
