Analyse af 'An Act of Love' af Alan Gibbons

Chris Hook is one of the main characters in the book, Chris is a loyal boy and solider, he is the underdog in the friendship between Imran and him. You could say that he is ignorant by the lack of knowledge about racism, even when he is being ignorant he is a happy boy who lived a normal life in the first few chapters in the book. He is a gentle boy who is afraid to take chances like on the ice lake, where Imran "dared" him to do it. Since he can be pushed to do thing he usually do not want to do you could call him the weak link in the two boys friendship. Over the chapters he chances personalities, he begins to grow up and learn about the racism through out the world. Where it is easy to see he changes his personality is when he moves away, he stopped being friends with Imran and began to grow close to Joe and Kelly, its also here where he goes to boxing, he went from being the weak link to being strong. When Chris joins the army he was under the influent from his friend Joe and his friends. He joined the army and found his purpose for his life, he developed from a young boy to a soldier. When Chris shot his first enemy he I did not fell a thing, it came later. He went from being a young boy who would not do any harm, to a soldier who could protect what ever he held dear. I think he wanted to protect everyone he cared about so that he would not lose any more people like Imran and Joe.
