Can’t buy me love, is a movie with the overused theme. “Nerd loves the popular kid.”

Ronald Miller is deeply in love with Cindy Mancini, but she doesn’t even know his name. Cindy’s boyfriend is a big sports star, so she doesn’t see him often.

At a party, Cindy takes her mom’s expensive dress. As a way of keeping, and maybe becoming more popular. Sadly a sports jog spills red wine on the dress. Cindy needs to buy a new one for $1000. The problem is, that she does not have the money. Luckily for her, Ronald has been mowing lawns for a long time, to get money for a telescope.

He sees Cindy begging for the dress in the store, she offers to work there until she has paid for it. He then offers her $1000, if she will pretend to like him for a month. At first she doesn’t want to, but she ends up agreeing on the deal.

When people see them together, he fast becomes popular and accepted. Ronald and Cindy starts spending time outside school, and she starts to like him. He takes her to an old plane graveyard, and he tells her about the moon. Cindy chooses to trust Ronald with her secret poems. “Someday my wish is for him to hold me in his arms, in a sea of deep blue, together at last, together as two.” Ronald likes the poem, and he feels special for knowing about it.
