I’ve been thinking lately about people who changed the world. There are many people who changed the world. Today, we are going to talk about Nelson Mandela.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African politician born on 18 July 1918. Mandela was born in the village of Mvezo in South Africa. He was the first black president of South Africa. He helped to end apartheid and fought for human rights. Mandela spent 27 years in prison for opposing South Africa’s apartheid system.
One of Mandela’s biggest struggle was being put in prison, because he never stopped fighting for what he believed in, which I think is so brave. He truly believed in the cause of justice, human dignity and equality. He was sentenced to life in 1964.
When Mandela was released, he had lost a lot. His wife, family and himself, which proves how much he sacrificed of his life for the justice of other people. He fought for freedom and equal rights.
Mandela had to go through a life of accusations and racism, however through all that he was always a man of peace and forgiveness. I believe that it was worth fighting for because at the end of the day, he still managed to find ways to free South Africa from apartheid government and also to help his country to become a peaceful country.
