2. On the threshold

He stood outside looking in. He wondered what it would be like living in this new place. No matter what, he knew he would miss his parents in the course of the next year, but he was also excited about the prospects of living somewhere different. He was a little nervous as he rang the doorbell.

At that moment it dawned on him that he would live a year with a family of strangers and so far away from home. He waited and waited time went very slowly he became even more nervous, he had never been in Denmark before. "I hope that they are cute, hmm what if I do not like being here, what if I just want to go home .. There is not really anything to do now," he thought. suddenly opened the door a very nice lady came out, "Hello," she said. She invited him inside, he was still very nervous and shy but he answered politely "hi" and went with the lady in the house, it was a very large house. The house was so much bigger inside than outside. He looked around the house that were so many beautiful things to look at, he could not understand that he should live in such a beautiful and big house for a year. then the door opened again and the rest of the host family came in. He had never met them before but he had seen pictures of them. Jane, Mark and their daughter Katrine, they were very sweet and accommodating. they gave him a tour of the house and showed him his room. the first month of Denmark went quickly, he quickly became accustomed to his new home in a city called Aarhus, he had already experienced a lot of things. His home, family, friends and all that home was not really something he thought so much of the first while. He had already gained a lot of new friends, which he could not always understand, everyone was so kind to him. they helped him with the language and all sorts of other things. Time flew away and suddenly it was July. It was a very nice and a different December, but it was also the first time he felt a little homesick. He was so happy to have such a nice host-family that helped him remember that it was so easy to keep in contact with his family and friends with Skype, Facebook, e-mail. The most challenging part of his year away was to learn Danish He thought it was interesting and exciting at the same time, but it was also a bit cumbersome. The Danish people were so nice. All helped him so much. They spoke very slowly, hand gestures, took him out at the weekend and showed him their culture. He loved Denmark.
