Is a political from Burma. She is known for her non-violent pro-democracy activities in Burma.
Early life
Aung San Suu Kyi is daughter of the famous military general Aung San. Who established The Organisation Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League. The organisation won the first election in April 1947 in Burma. In the same month Aung San should establish the government he was shot dead by a group of armed men in a government meeting. When Aung San Suu Kyi was 15 her mother Khin Kyi was elected as an ambassador in India and Aung San Suu Kyi moved with her to New Delhi.
In 1964 she finished her University preparations and moved to Great Britain. Where she studied Philosophy, Economy and Political science in Oxford. In Oxford Suu Kyi met Michael Aris, which she later married. The couple moved to Bhutan were michael worked as a chancellor for the government. In Bhutan Suu Kyi had 2 sons called Alexander and Kim. In 1975 they moved to London Great Britain. In 1988 she finished her PHD at the University of London. In the same year Suu Kyi traveled to Burma in april becuase her mother had had a brain stroke.
When she came to Burma in 1988 she was met by thousands of students who protested against the government and the general Ne Wen. All the students had Aung San as a role model. Suu Kyi discovered that the country was falling apart and then she decided to join the protests. The 26 August 1988 Suu Kyi gave a speech to over half a million people in Rangoon. A month later she was helped with establishing a new party called National league democracy. Because of that she was placed under house arrest.
