The texts says something about Nelson Mandelas childhood, like – when he was born (18 july 1918) and what happened to his father (He died and Nelson had to live with the ruling chief) There is also written about that Mandela was fascinated by how the law was practiced.
Nelson did very well at school and when he had finished his last year, the chief wanted him to go on to university. But it was not just an university, it was the gathering place for the best black students from both southern, central and Eastern Africa.
Then Mandela became more and more interested in politics. We also hear that in 1942 he join the African National Congress (ANC) He has a feeling that the organization could do more for the blacks who were oppressed by the white government.
Then the texts says something about that in 1952 Mandela opened the first black law firm in Johannesburg and the same year he was put in charge of countrywide campaign that was to inform the black population of the many unjust laws and to get them to demonstrate against the government.
But in 1960 the government banned the ANC, which could not stamp out the fighting spirit. Mandela and other ANC members went underground and continued their work.
