Diskutér, hvorvidt immigranternes forventningerne opfyldes. I diskussionen skal indgå en perspektivering til Donald Trumps syn på immigranter i USA.

Abstract

This paper will look at and consider that the United States is a nation of immigrants. It explores the values and ideas that make America attractive to especially Latin-American immigrants. Different views on The American Dream and how it is to be an immigrant in America as a child but as a parent too, are portrayed through analysis of two poems and a song.

The paper is divided into three main sections. The first section looks at the immigrant’s expectations and dreams before going to America. Furthermore, it shortly looks at the bad realities the immigrants may meet in America. The second section contains an analysis of the song: “Pobre Juan”, and the two poems: “Where You From” and “Immigrants”. Finally, it contains a discussion of whether or not the immigrant´s dreams have a chance of coming true in America, also considered President Trump´s view on immigrants.
