This text is about an Indian girl`s life in an different country and she has just been married to a man named Anuj, which she actually doesn’t know. She has been pushed by her parents to being married with Anuj, because they want their daughter to have a great life, but the real reason is that Anuj is from Wales, and her father believes that she would have a much better life their than she had in her local country. She misses her own country a lot, her old life, and of course her friends she left to marrying a man she does not know but is trying to. At the end of the story, she realizes that that there is nothing else to do than accepting her new situation in this strange place. So this text is based on family issues.

The relationship between Lata and Anuj is very strange. Lata is an Indian girl who has just immigrated into Wales because of her marriage to Anuj, so she must know almost everything about how it is to be a person in Wales. Anuj is an Indian immigrant who is living in Wales. She meets a completely different lifestyle in Wales, and misses her old existence back in her native country. So we can say that she isn’t very happy to be immigrated into Wales. Her marriage is arranged by her parents in India, and that is a very religious nation, and she does not really know her “new” husband very well, and the biggest problem is that she has no feelings for him yet. The reason for why Lata are getting married with Anuj is that Lata´s parents believe that she would have a much better life in Wales than in her own nation India. It is very funny, because Lata and Anuj don’t really have something in common because they have both been living in different countries with different cultures, and there is a big different between Wales and India, especially the religious views. Lata is memorizing her old great life in India all the time, and she cannot forget that time, and she is trying to have a great time with her new husband, and of course her new country Wales, but it is very difficult for her. “Lata stared at Anuj, and then at her hennaed hands. It was true, she was his bride and wanted to love him desperately, but he made it so difficult for her at times”. The relationship is as I said before very strange, because they have no things in common. Anuj is an assimilated Indian who feels himself as a Britain “And he thought that he was as British as white people”. This quote also shows us that Lata and Anuj have different duties. Lata is happy of being Indian and she loves her country and culture, but her husband Anuj is not feeling himself as an Indian, so that is a big problem for their relationship. But at the same time she thinks that it is possible to love Anuj, even all the big problems between them, because she still thinks that there is some hope for them because her mother told her so “She would learn to love him. Yes, my mother had said so; she would learn to love him”. This quote shows us that Lata is a careful girl, which is also shown by marriage with Anuj that her parents have arranged.
