There is an estimated of 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US because the immigration system is failing. Many people cross the border illegally or overstay their visas in the hopes of a better life for themselves and their children and future children. The state of Arizona took matter into their own hands and has recently imposed a law that requires police to check peoples’ ID if they look suspicious and if they lack documents; they have the right to detain them.
Around 11 million people are committing a crime every day by being in the country and surely, they should be held accountable because if not; people will continue to immigrate illegally. That would not be fair for the many people waiting in line to immigrate legally. The thing is that these people have a life in the US. They are just earning a living. Some have children who were born in the country and therefore are US citizens. Should the parents be ripped away from their children? Some children came as babies and grew up in the country as Americans. Should they just be deported from everything they know? They are a part of the economic cycle and they contribute to the economy of a nation which is made of immigrants. They are part of communities and trying to live a better life than what they came from and who can blame them for wanting a better life for their family. The US attracts educated people from all over the world and these immigrants have changed the country for the better with inventions and scientific breakthroughs from Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla. They also create a younger workforce and a fast-growing economy.
