Donnie Darko is a teenage boy who is having a hard time in his life. He takes pills before he sleeps. Everyone thinks he's a boy who feels all the time because he wakes up in nature almost every morning because he walks in his sleep.
One morning he goes home from a golf course where he was asleep and when he reached home there were a lot of people and police who had sped off to his house because there is a plane engine that has fallen into Donnie's bedroom and his family is standing by a tree and think he's dead because it landed in his bedroom and he had not come out with them.
Donnie's father thinks there's someone watching him and protecting him so he's not lucky because he's very lucky. He goes to High School and always goes with two other boys he smokes with and he always comes to the office because he says his opinion to the teachers and whenever he is in conversation his father begins to laugh because he thought there are some fun things Donnie does.
A new girl starts in Donnie Darko's class and on her way home from school that day, Donnie and his father encounter an old lady who whispers something to Donnie. Donnie Darko goes to a psychologist where he tells about that night where he learned that the earth will go beneath and that he sees that rabbit every time he has taken the pills or is alone.
