I like the idea of the Tesco project farm to fork. I think it is very important for children to learn where their food comes from. Many schools in Britain has very bad eating habits. The food that they serve in their canteens is mostly fast food, like burger, pizza and frites. Jamie Oliver has made a program called Jamie’s food revolution. He travels to school all over England, learning the canteen ladies how to make cheap organic food, and teaching the kids to eat it. He has met 12 years old children who never have tried vegetables, that is a big flaw in parenting. Multiple tests have shown that more than 70 percent of Texas is overweight or obese. I think that we are moving in the wrong direction. People know so much about food, and how to obtain a healthy. Overweight is a huge burden for our society. People with diabetes holds hospital beds, beds that cancer patient or other serious illnesses should have. Diabetes is an illness that goes in heritage, but if it is not in your family, you can pretty much avoid it by a healthy life style. I am not saying that you can’t eat candy and fast food, if you just have some moderation. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the united states, and almost 10% of American population has it. Therefore, I think we should learn children about it. Field trips is a very good idea, if you get their interest I think it would make a difference. Online field trips are not a bad idea either, but I don’t think that it should replace the real once. You learn by feeling stuff in your hand. The responsibility of making healthy food is shared. If the farmers make good food, and the crowd keeps buying unhealthy discount provisions the farmers will bankrupt. Therefore, should the farmers make healthy food and the people should by it. The government can help by making organic food cheaper. Obesity will affect your life in many ways, you will have a lot of physical problems, you will not be able to walk far distance, or run fast. It will also have an influence on your mentality. Initiatives like having a vegan day and a day where fish substitutes meat can be very healthy. There are some vitamins in fish that you don’t find many else places. If you make a vegan day every week, you can help save the environment. Producing meat pollutes the air a lot. Many companies all around the world have ideas like the one Tesco haves. Arla in Denmark makes a lot of different events to make sure young people stay interested. Every year they have a children’s food festival, were you can prepare and eat food, and listen to music. I think it is some cool ideas to help the world.
