A simulation is an imitation of a situation or a process, easier said a simulation is an imitation of something real (for example from the real world), the state of things or a process

If you, me and every person and living being in the cosmos is actually just a part of a giant simulation, could we not necessarily know it.

The theory goes that a future civilization, might have wanted to see what the people in the past lived like. So, they made a simulation, and we might be that simulation. This insane stuff sounds like something we will see in the movie “The Matrix”. “The Matrix” is about a simulation of the world, where there is one man who is trying to fight against it.

During an interview at “Code Conference 2016”, Elon Musk one of the most intelligent persons in the world, the creator of tesla, SpaceX, Zip2 and PayPal said, “There’s a one in billions chance we’re in base reality.” This essentially means that he believes the world as we know is just a very sophisticated computer simulation.
