Civilization Fund Act og konsekvenser for Native Americans

In this essay I will be looking into the civilization fund act and I will be analysing the text by Mary Annette Pember “death by civilization” and the video “boarding school healing.” The text is about Mary Annette Pember and her mother, Mary’s mother was a native american and was one of the many children sent to boarding schools. Mary mother would often tell her stories of all the horrifying incidents that happend at the school like beating, lack of food and sexual abuse. Mary's mother luckily survived the school but unfortunately died in 2011. Mary tells about her mother and how the boarding school had affected her life. Mary tells stories of her mother walking around for hours trying to fight off the demons from the boarding school. Mary never knew if these stories were true until one day she went to a library and found old files of the boarding school where one of her mothers stories gets confirmed and then she knew everything her mother had told her was true. The story was of her boarding school principal's death when she fell down the stairs and busted open her skull. The video “boarding school healing'' is about the native americans telling their stories and trying to explain how the U.S government could fix this problem and apologize to the native americans.
