Rosa Louise MCcauley Parks, was born on February the 4, 1913, In Tuskegee, Alabama. Growing up, was Parks living in in fear of the kkk, who was burning down schools and churches in her city. The first time she witnessed racism, was when a white bus driver was beating up a black man for getting in his way. She grew up on a farm, with her brother Sylvester. Her parents got divorced when she was very young. She was schooled five months in one year, so she could help her mother, and work on the field. Parks left school in a age of 16, to take care of her grandmother. It was in this time she learn how to sew. In 1932, Parks married the barber Raymond Parks, who was an activist in the Civil Rights Movements. He was the reason she started her interest in movements against racism. She became an activist herself.

In the mid-1950s, was Parks working as an housekeeper for a white couple, Clifford and Virginia Durr. She also served as a secretary, for NAACP, until 1956.
