Reason for choice of topic: We thought it would be an interesting topic to learn more about. Rosa parks is a civil rights icon, she did what other might have found ruthless to T own life at risk, really get to us. Her past: Rosa like any other black person in her time, had a rough childhood, not only was she black but also very small. One day when she was 11 years old, a white guy her age pushed her, just because she was black, but she stood up again and pushed him back, of course his mother saw it and she got very mad, but Rosa kept her clam, and she calmly explained to her that it was her son that had started by pushing her, but the mother got even madder and even threatened her by saying she would put her in jail. There were a lot of segregation back then, the black had to walk to school, there were no windows in their classes ountains, ride the same elevators, they had to live in different neighborhoods and go to different restaurants and even go to different bathrooms. Why she was put in jail: it was on December 1, 1955, in Montgomery Alabama. Rosa Parks rejected bus driver James F. Blakes order to relinquish B Parks was not the first person to resist bus segregation, but the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) believed that she was the best candidate for seeing through a court challenge after her arrest for civil disobedience in violating Alabama segregation laws. Parks' prominence in the community and her willingness to become a controversial figure inspired the black community to boycott the Montgomery buses for over a year, the first major direct-action campaign of the post-war civil rights movement.
