Skribentens beskrivelse af Cry freedomThe movie is about the apartheid regime in South Africa. The white journalist Donald Woods had always been critical of Steve Biko and his fight for equality but after seeing a black township, he changed his mind. Gradually he developed a friendship with Steve Biko and began to support the fight for equality. Later when Steve Biko was found outside his banning area he was put in prison. The police did so much violence to him that he died. Chief constable Jimmy Kruger said that he died because of a hunger strike but Donald Woods wanted to show the truth. |
