1. The movie is about the apartheid regime in South Africa. The white journalist Donald Woods had always been critical of Steve Biko and his fight for equality but after seeing a black township, he changed his mind. Gradually he developed a friendship with Steve Biko and began to support the fight for equality. Later when Steve Biko was found outside his banning area he was put in prison. The police did so much violence to him that he died. Chief constable Jimmy Kruger said that he died because of a hunger strike but Donald Woods wanted to show the truth. Therefore, he took some pictures of Steve Biko’s injured body but when the police discovered it Donald Woods got banned. Donald Woods wished to spread Steve Biko’s name by publishing a book. But he could not publish the book because of his ban and therefore he had to escape from the country. With his family, he moved to England and then he could publish the book about Steve Biko and the fight for equality.
2. Donald Woods and Steve Biko met each other in an old church that today is a community centre for the black people. Then Steve Biko was banned which meant that he was not allowed to be in the same room with more than two persons at the same time. Steve Biko told about the black people’s conditions during the apartheid regime and told about his views on equality. He invited Donald Woods to see a township where the black people lived, and Donald Woods got more sympathy with the black people.
