Many people experience betrayal from the most important and necessary people in the world, our parents from a wish to that every child must have the chance to get a good and safe childhood. If children didn´t get the security and care that children need, it can have a big influence on their future lives. Upbringing, a good personality and being able to be in a social company is an important subject to live our lives.

Like Charlie is a story there fit many of the elements I have considered in my start.

The main character of the short story “Like Charlie” by John Boyne is Nick Dartie. Other important characters are Nick´s father Lewis and Nick´s brother Charlie. Nick´s mother called Annabel is only introduced by Nick. The first sentence of the story tells us that she is loved and a little bit feared at the same time. In the beginning, there is an interesting contrast in the start of the story. Being happy with the company of his mother, Nick enjoys more the company of being alone whenever possible.

Nick Dartie is a ten-year-old boy. He is the most important character in the story. He is mainly described as being an awkward boy, and the word “masculine”, is what he is opposite of.
