Analyse af Zdravka Evtimovas novelle 'Blood'

The short story “Blood” is written by Zdravka Evtimova in 2003. The story is about a nameless character who runs a some kind of a pet shop. Every day the main character is sitting and waiting for someone to come in and buy something. One day a strange woman comes in asking for the blood of the mole. She says that three drops of blood of a mole will cure her son’s sickness. The pet shop owner didn’t have any moles but he felt awful not helping not old lady so he went into the back room a cut himself in the wrist. Some days after the old lady returns and says that her son can walk again. Few days later more people shows op at the pet shop because they also have a family member who needs the blood of a mole. They show up with little glass bottles and knives. The main theme in the short story is murder and greediness

The main character doesn’t have a name. It makes it easier to you as the reader to identifies you with the main character. Then I read the short I thought it was a male main character even though it is not written directly in the story. The character is sensitive because he almost feels guilty if he doesn’t help the old lady. He is also very desperate because he wants to help the first person who goes into the shop because he doesn’t have that many customers.
