The relationship has always been very tense between them. Even though she doesn’t show it, Eva still cares for Kevin, it’s just hard for her to show her emotions, since he is pushing her away, almost seems like he is repelled by her. he always prefers the father, but when she harms him or does something cruel or bad, he always takes her side. as Kevin grows up, he still acts like he’s a child who seems underdeveloped. however, when they go to the doctor to check on him, he is healthy and there is no sign of illness. in the end he kills the family, except for her. they hug, they remind of each other.

It’s like there is an invisible bond and its kind of reminds about the saying that the person we disagree with the most, is the person that reminds us about ourselves. we see various moments where Eva doesn’t show love and sympathy for her son, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him, she is just in a birth depression and is having a hard time, showing her emotions to Kevin, who is repeatedly pushing her away, keeping a distance between them. Kevin likes grinding his mother’s gears and sometimes it results in Eva being slightly violent and harming Kevin, however it seems like her is forgiving her every time and it’s never Eva attention to harm Kevin, maybe he’s trying to get something out of Eva. something he can see inside her, no one else can.
